The natural habitat of silverfish is not inside our closets. In their natural habitat, they live under bark and in soil, leaf litter and rotting logs. Silverfish are nocturnal so they come out at night, looking for food.

Silver in colour, they have flattened bodies and are generally up to 15mm long. Most species of silverfish are covered in tiny scales. They don’t have wings but protect themselves by being able to scurry around very fast.  The average lifespan of silverfish, if they don’t become prey, is about 4 years.
